Epipremnum aureum

The Pothos (Devil's Ivy)

Pothos Plant

Identification

The Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) is a trailing vine native to Mo'orea. It has heart-shaped leaves that are often variegated with yellow, white, or light green. It's sometimes called Devil's Ivy because it is nearly impossible to kill and stays green even when kept in the dark.

Care Guide

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions well.
  • Water: Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Drought tolerant.
  • Humidity: Basic household humidity is fine, but it appreciates a misting occasionally.
  • Soil: Any well-draining potting mix.

Common Issues

Loss of Variegation: The plant isn't getting enough light. Move it to a brighter spot.
Yellowing Leaves: Overwatering is the most common cause. Let it dry out!
